Q. Is the SmartCats StayHome fence harmful to cats?

A. No the SmartCats StayHome fence will not harm cats. Cats have very sensitive pads on their paws so they will feel a small pulse when they touch the polywire boundary; no harm is inflicted on the cat but the cat will retreat and not cross the polywire. Acting as a psychological barrier to prevent the cat from returning.

 Q. Is it hard to install?

A. No, DIY installation is easy with all of the components necessary to install the SmartCats StayHome fence included in the kit, along with easy to follow instructions.The only tools required are a screwdriver and a drill. It will take approximately one hour to install and will be completely effective immediately.

Q. Does it require any maintenance or batteries?

 A. No the SmartCats StayHome fence does not require any maintenance or batteries. The electronic control unit plugs into a power socket and uses a tiny amount of power to energize the polywire, you can control when it is energized by turning the power socket switch on or off. The only maintenance required is that we recommend trees and shrubs are trimmed so they do not touch the polywire.

Q. Is it affected by hot or cold temperatures

A. No the SmartCats StayHome fence is not affected by temperatures it will work in any temperature however we recommend installing the control unit inside a garage or garden shed as the control unit is not waterproof. The fence itself is not affected by rain or water.
